How to Choose an LED Wall Supplier in the UAE: 12 Checks

How to Choose a Reliable LED Wall Supplier in the UAE: 12 Checks Before You Sign

Two quotes land on your desk for the same LED video wall. One is 30% cheaper. Same size, same pixel pitch, same “premium” in the subject line.

So why is one so much lower?

Usually, it’s what the quote leaves out. The controller. The steel. The spare modules. The person who turns up when a section goes dark during Ramadan trading or a product launch. Price per m² is like judging a car by its sticker and never asking where the service centre is.

We’ve installed more than 400 LED screens across the UAE and GCC in the last four years, and we’ve been called in to fix plenty of walls we didn’t sell. This guide is the checklist we’d hand a friend before they choose an LED video wall supplier in the UAE.

The short answer

To choose a reliable LED wall supplier in the UAE, ask for an itemised quote, visit real installs (not renders), get the warranty in writing with what it covers and for how many years, confirm the supplier keeps spare modules in stock locally, and make sure their own team installs and services the screen. Price per m² alone hides the real cost.

Now, let’s go through the 12 checks one by one.

1. Can you visit installs that are actually running?

Anyone can send a render. Ask for two or three live installs close to your use case, and go and stand in front of them.

Look at the wall from an angle. Look at a dark scene. Look at the joins between cabinets. If a supplier can’t name a single site you can visit, that tells you something.

Our clients include Ajman Bank, VFS Global, Dubai Opticals, Jawhara, Prima Gold and Life Care Hospital, and our projects page shows the work in place.

2. Will they show you a live demo with your own content?

A showroom loop is made to look good. Your content is what matters.

Bring a USB with your actual menu board, promo video or dashboard, and ask to see it on the same product and pixel pitch you’re being quoted. You can book a live demo at our Dubai facility in Al Khawaneej 2.

3. Is the quote itemised, line by line?

This is where most surprises hide. A proper LED wall quote lists:

  • LED cabinets or modules (brand, pitch, quantity, total m²)
  • Video processor and controller (brand and model)
  • Receiving cards and power supplies
  • Mounting structure or steelwork
  • Power and data cabling
  • Delivery, installation and commissioning
  • Content software and staff training
  • Spare modules included
  • Warranty terms

If the quote is one line that says “LED screen, supply and install”, ask for the breakdown. If they won’t give it, walk away.

4. Did they match pixel pitch to your viewing distance?

Pixel pitch is the gap between LEDs, in millimetres. Smaller pitch means a sharper image up close, and a higher price.

A rough rule of thumb: the closest comfortable viewing distance in metres is about the same as the pitch in millimetres. A common industry guideline, used by Samsung, puts comfortable viewing at around 8 feet (about 2.4 m) per millimetre of pitch.

A good supplier asks where people will stand before quoting a pitch. A pushy one sells you the finest pitch on the price list. A cheap one sells you the coarsest.

5. Is it built for UAE heat, sun and dust?

A screen that looks great in a European showroom can struggle on a Dubai shopfront in August.

For outdoor screens, ask about brightness (outdoor screens usually need 5,000 nits or more to stay readable in direct sun), the IP rating for dust and water, and how the cabinets handle heat. For indoor screens facing a glass shopfront, ask about brightness too. Sunlight through glass washes out an indoor-grade screen faster than you’d think.

6. Is the warranty in writing, and what does it actually cover?

“Five-year warranty” can mean five years on the LEDs and one year on everything else. Ask three questions:

  1. What parts are covered: modules, power supplies, receiving cards, controller?
  2. Is labour included, or only parts?
  3. Is the repair done here, or does the part go back to a factory overseas?

At StarLED Displays, our warranty runs up to 5 years, and warranty service is handled by our in-house team in Dubai, not shipped abroad.

7. Do they keep spare modules in stock, locally?

LED modules are sorted in batches by brightness and colour, a process called binning. A replacement module from a different batch can look slightly off next to its neighbours.

So ask: do you keep spares from my batch? Where are they stored? How fast can you swap one? A supplier who has to order a module from abroad leaves you with a black square for weeks.

8. Who installs it: their team or a subcontractor?

Many suppliers sell the screen and hand the install to whoever is free that week. That’s when cabinets end up misaligned and you see visible seams.

Ask who will be on site, whether they’re employees, and who signs off on commissioning. Our screens are installed by our own UAE crew, never subcontracted.

9. Who handles the structure, power and permits?

An LED wall is heavy, and it pulls real power. Someone needs to check the wall or steel can carry the load, that the power supply is sized right, and that there’s space to service it.

For outdoor screens, there’s usually a permit from the local authority too. Ask who prepares the drawings and who deals with the permit, so you don’t find out after the steel goes up.

10. What controls the screen, and who trains your team?

The processor and control software decide how easy your screen is to run every day. Ask for the brand of the controller, how content is scheduled, and whether your staff will be trained.

Ask about remote monitoring too. Every StarLED install connects to our OpsCentre for health checks, brightness scheduling and diagnostics, so we often spot a fault before you do.

11. What happens after go-live?

Here’s the tricky part. Most suppliers are fast before you sign and slow after.

Ask for the service response time in writing, whether maintenance visits are included, and a phone number that a person picks up. Then call one of their existing clients and ask how the last fault was handled. That one call is worth more than any brochure.

12. Is the company itself solid?

Check the trade licence, a physical office or warehouse you can visit, and product certifications (CE, RoHS, ISO 9001 are common ones). Ask how long they’ve been installing in the UAE and how many screens they’ve done.

A supplier with stock, a team and a facility in the country will still be here when your warranty needs them.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a reliable LED wall supplier in the UAE? Ask for an itemised quote, visit live installs, get the warranty in writing (what it covers and for how many years), confirm local spare stock, and check that the supplier’s own team installs and services the screen. Compare suppliers on these points, not on price per m² alone.

What should an LED video wall quote include? LED cabinets or modules with brand and pitch, the video processor, receiving cards, power supplies, mounting structure, cabling, installation, commissioning, software, training, spare modules and warranty terms. A one-line quote makes comparison impossible.

How long should an LED screen warranty be in the UAE? Warranties vary by supplier and product. What matters most is what’s covered (parts and labour), and whether repairs happen locally. StarLED Displays offers a warranty of up to 5 years, serviced by its in-house Dubai team.

Is it better to buy an LED wall from a local UAE supplier or import directly? Importing can look cheaper, but you take on the install, spares, customs and repairs yourself. A local supplier with stock and an in-house team can swap a module in a day instead of shipping it abroad for weeks.

Which pixel pitch do I need for my LED video wall? It depends on how close people stand. As a rough guide, the closest comfortable viewing distance in metres is about equal to the pitch in millimetres. A supplier should ask about your room and viewing distance before recommending a pitch.

Can I see an LED wall before buying in Dubai? Yes. StarLED Displays runs live demos at its facility in Al Khawaneej 2, Dubai, and can arrange visits to running installs.
